Entry Requirements
At ACQ London, we welcome learners from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. Our entry requirements are designed to ensure that each student is appropriately prepared for their chosen level of study while also offering flexible routes for mature applicants and professionals with relevant experience.
Level 4 Courses
Applicants are typically expected to have completed A-levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications such as BTECs or an Access to HE Diploma). However, we also welcome mature learners who may not hold formal qualifications but can demonstrate relevant work experience, strong motivation, and the potential to succeed through a supporting personal statement and CV.
Level 5 & Level 6 Courses
To enrol in a Level 5 or Level 6 diploma, learners should have successfully completed a recognised Level 4 qualification in a related subject area. Applicants without formal qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they possess substantial industry experience and can demonstrate prior learning relevant to the programme.
Level 7 Courses
Entry to Level 7 postgraduate diplomas generally requires a relevant undergraduate degree. Alternatively, candidates with extensive managerial or professional experience in a related field may also be considered under our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy, particularly where they can show practical expertise and leadership in their field.
Short Courses / Certifications
Our short courses and professional certifications often feature open-entry, making them accessible to a wide range of learners including beginners, upskillers, and career changers. Where specific skills or prior knowledge are necessary, any requirements will be clearly listed on the course description page.
English Language Proficiency for International Learners
All courses at ACQ London are delivered in English. International applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate adequate English language proficiency. This can typically be evidenced by an IELTS score of 5.5–6.5 (or equivalent), depending on the course level. Applicants who do not yet meet the language requirement may be offered conditional admission with the opportunity to complete an English support course prior to starting their main programme.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
At ACQ London, we value the diverse experiences and knowledge that learners bring with them. Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy allows you to gain credit exemptions or advanced standing on certain courses based on your previous formal study, professional training, or relevant work experience.
What is RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal process through which learners can receive credit for units or modules within a qualification by demonstrating that they have already acquired the required knowledge, skills, or competencies through:
- Previous academic studies (e.g., completed modules from another institution)
- Industry training or vocational courses
- Relevant work experience or practical learning
- Informal or self-directed learning that meets the course outcomes
RPL helps reduce repetition of learning, saves time, and can potentially shorten the duration of your course.
How to Apply for RPL
If you believe your prior learning may qualify for credit exemption, you should express your interest during the admissions process. An admissions advisor will provide guidance and assist you with your RPL application. The process typically involves:
- Initial Discussion – Discuss your background and potential eligibility with an admissions advisor.
- RPL Application Form – Submit a formal request for recognition along with required supporting documents.
- Evidence Submission – Provide proof of prior learning.
- Assessment – Your application and evidence will be reviewed by the academic team.
Evidence Required
To support your RPL application, you may need to provide:
- Academic transcripts or certificates
- Detailed CV and job role descriptions
- Letters from employers or training providers
- Portfolios of work or professional achievements
Eligibility Criteria
- The prior learning must be current, relevant, and at the same level as the qualification for which you seek exemption.
- A minimum amount of evidence must be provided to validate the learning outcomes.
- Credit cannot be awarded for prior learning that is too outdated, incomplete, or insufficiently documented.
Important Notes
- RPL is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- In some cases, a fee may be charged for RPL assessment and administration.
We encourage learners to start this process as early as possible to avoid delays in enrolment. Our admissions team is available to support you every step of the way.
